All-new Toyota Corolla coming!

The Corolla is one of Toyota's most successful models, but the last generations have failed in terms of design, at least in Europe. It seems that this will change with the new generation, if the rendering by Best Car is close to the final design. The new model should be launched next year in Japan.

How the next-gen Toyota Corolla should not look like...

Back in February BC published a very nice rendering of the next-gen Corolla (earlier post) and I was really happy seeing Toyota coming back from the dead.... but this latest rendering worries me a lot!!! It looks like eeeer.... a typical Toyota and this is very wrong. I guess we will have to wait until January 2012 to find out.

Update on info posted about next-gen Toyota Corolla

Almost one month ago, similarly to the next-gen Auris, it was reported that the next-gen Corolla will make its debut in June 2011. This info was claimed by BC, which now has changed the date and according to the latest report, it should be launched in February 2012.

The hybrid version will be powered by the usual 1.8L engine and the fuel efficiency, under the 10.15 mode, should be 30.0 km/L. In terms of dimensions, the new Corolla is expected to measure 4,430 x 1,695 x 1,450 mm (length x width x height). Prices for the hybrid version, in Japan, should range between ¥ 1,900,000 and ¥ 2,200,00.

The current model is struggling and Toyota plans to bring out a much sharper Corolla, which of course will be better in terms of fuel efficiency. Again, as in the case of the new Auris, the use of a 1.5 L turbocharged petrol engine is very likely and also, a hybrid version will be added. The platform of the new Corolla will be used for the new compact SUV (earlier post).

BC claims that the new model will be revealed, in Japan, in June 2011 with the hybrid version coming a few months later. 

If the rendering is accurate, then I really look forward for the new Corolla. Otherwise, I won't be suprised since I have been used to the "Corolla = boring to death" practice.

Nip/tack for USDM Toyota Corolla

Prior to its debut at the LA Auto Show, Toyota has released images of the facelifted Corolla. The 2011 model gets a new front bumper,  grille and headlights, while at the back,new tail lights have been fitted. In the interior, don't expect much since only new colours and patterns will be offered. Oh, the Corolla S gets a new steering wheel… The oily bits remain unchanged.
