All-new Toyota 86 coming in 2020

The  recent facelift is going to keep the current 86 for four more years on the market, until August 2020 when the next-gen 86 will be introduced. The new model is going to be slightly shorter than the current model, measuring 4,195 x 1,775 x 1,290 mm, while power will come again from a natural aspired boxer engine. The engine will have a displacement of 2.4-liters and according to Mag-X, the power output will be increased by 31 ps (238 ps), while the torque will go up by 4.4 kgm (26 kgm).

Toyota readies four-door FT model!!!

According to Japanese Best Car magazine, Toyota is working on a sporty four-door model which will be added to the FT family. A four-door FT model is not something new, as a long time ago I posted about this scenario (earlier post). It seems that Toyota is back in business for good!

Official specs of Toyota FT-86 finally revealed!

Those are the official specs of the FT-86, leaked of course but coming from some official training material. So, after seeing the actual car and now knowing what we should expect in terms of performance, the target of 200 PS has been achieved and I think the FT-86 should be a really fun-to-drive car!

Latest scoop on FT-86: G's and STi versions to get turbo power

BC has published an article with the latest scoop on the FT-86 / BRZ. According to a summary that I was provided with, Toyota is planning to fit an 1.6-liter turbocharged engine one year after the initial introduction of the model. Now, what seems rather strange to me is the fact that BC claims that the turbocharged engine will be fitted in the G's / STi versions, while the "normal" versions will be powered by the naturally aspired 2.0-liter engine.

In any case, the article also mentions that the new turbo engine will be fitted in the new Subaru Impreza WRX STi as well, producing 270ps. BC also claims that the differences between the FT-86 and the BRZ (or whatever the official name will be) will be on the front and rear ends.

Latest FT-86 rendering... is this the real deal?!

A few days ago I posted a photo from the latest Mag-X issue, which arrived today. As usual, I always try to provide you with the latest renderings coming straight from Japan. Anyway, as the time passes by and we are getting closer to December, I expect more accurate renderings of the production version to be published.

According to the article, the FB20 will deliver 200 ps and 205 Nm of torque, while it will come with the D-4S injection system. The bore and stroke will be 86 x 86 mm! In terms of transmissions, a 6AT will be also available with paddle shifts on the steering wheel. As already known, power will go to the rear wheels and an LSD will ensure the best power distribution.

The FT-86 will be on sale in April 2012.
